Matthew M. Kaelin is the author of The Sinister Beauty of Carnivorous Plants. He is an accomplished cultivator of carnivorous plants, exhibits his photography at fine art galleries, museums, and botanical gardens, has won horticultural awards, named two Nepenthes cultivars, lectures for nature presentations, authors natural history articles, discovered a sundew hybrid in NY, and is currently involved in a conservation survey of Long Island’s native carnivorous plants. Currently residing in Nassau County on the South Shore of Long Island, NY, in his spare time he can often be found at the beach, hiking the trails, or exploring the wetlands across the island.
